Pinderfields Hospital

Pupil Referral Unit

Admissions

Prior to admission to the setting there will already have been concerns expressed regarding the child’s development and questions as to where the correct setting for the child is. Professionals such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Special Educational Needs Support Service will already be involved and the pupil will have an Education Health and Care Plan. Children are referred to Forest Wood Assessment Centre by the Education Health and Care panel after referral to them.

We work in partnership with parents/carers, therapists and other professionals to give the child the best opportunity to achieve their full potential and be appropriately placed in their next educational setting.

Close links are maintained with all professionals working with the child. A detailed profile of the child is completed soon after admission. This enables staff to set targets in all areas of the child’s development and learning. This is closely linked with the child’s EHCP and is regularly evaluated and reviewed. A full range of learning opportunities is provided through a vocabulary driven, Early Years style curriculum which is carefully designed to meet the needs of each individual.
