Pinderfields Hospital

Pupil Referral Unit

Information for Pupils and Parents

Navigating a hospital stay can be a challenging and sometimes unsettling experience. Here at our school within Pinderfields Hospital, our primary goal is to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for you.

Upon your admission to the ward, a friendly staff member will greet you and introduce you to the engaging and fun activities we have in store. Not only do these activities alleviate the potential boredom of long days, but they also serve as a positive distraction during times of feeling unwell.

For those fortunate enough to stay with us for an extended period and are well enough to partake in educational activities, we'll reach out to your home school to inquire about the ongoing lessons your friends are currently engaged in. Your assistance in bringing in your work, providing access to online platforms, and informing us about your coursework and key contacts at your school is greatly appreciated.

Depending on the length of your stay and your well-being, you'll be offered one or two school sessions. Should concerns arise about missing essential coursework, please communicate with us so we can provide the necessary support.

And if the timing coincides with exams during your hospital stay, worry not! We are a registered exam centre, enabling us to arrange for exams to take place on the ward if you are well enough to participate. Your education is important to us, and we are here to ensure a seamless and supportive learning experience during your time with us.
